Our goals
And how you can sign on to them.
A strong democracy is the bedrock of a strong economy. Small businesses depend on predictable rules, impartial courts, and open competition to survive. When democratic norms are undermined, it’s not just politics that suffers — it’s Main Street.
Right now, those foundations are being shaken. The administration has imposed tariffs without Congress, ignored court rulings, canceled funding already approved by law, pressured the Federal Reserve, directed investigations at political opponents, and even retaliated against private businesses. These actions create instability, favoritism, and fear — the exact conditions that make it harder for small businesses to hire, plan, and grow.
That’s why we’re organizing around these urgent goals:
Protect the Rule of Law
Democracy and business both depend on consistent, impartial enforcement of the rules. We call on leaders to respect court decisions, honor Congress’s constitutional power of the purse, and ensure that no one is above the law. What’s at stake for small businesses: Contracts, property rights, access to fair markets, and due process rights only work if laws are applied consistently. When court rulings are ignored or Congress’s authority is bypassed, business owners can’t rely on stable rules of the game.
Our stand: Ensure courts and Congress’s constitutional role are respected so small businesses aren’t left vulnerable to arbitrary decisions.
Defend Independent Institutions
From the Federal Reserve to the Department of Justice, independent institutions must make decisions based on facts, not politics. We oppose efforts to pressure, punish, or weaponize these institutions, and we stand against retaliation targeting private businesses for their clients, views, or politics. What’s at stake for small businesses: Independent regulators like the Federal Reserve keep the economy stable; impartial law enforcement keeps markets fair. Political interference risks higher borrowing costs, unstable interest rates, and justice applied unevenly — all of which hurt Main Street first.
Our stand: Safeguard the Fed, DOJ, and private enterprise from political pressure, corruption, or retaliation so small businesses compete on merit, not connections.
Small businesses can’t afford a government that bends the rules for the well-connected. We need fair competition, equal opportunity, and stability. That means defending the rules of free enterprise. Democracy is everyone’s business — and small businesses are standing together to protect it.
